The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) conducts NIOS Class 10th board exams 2 times a year. One in March-April and the other in October/November. NIOS Class 10 exams are held for three hours, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The NIOS 10th examinations are held in April for Block-I and in October for Block-II. The NIOS results for April session will be released in June. NIOS results for October will be out in January.

For Public Examination at the Senior Secondary level, NIOS learner may take nine or fewer chances to successfully complete the course during the validity period of admission. Improvement exams will be conducted for the students who did not get passing marks in one or more than one subjects. The NIOS Board will announce the dates of the improvement or supplementary exam, after the release of NIOS result of each session. Students have to apply for the same online, They should also pay the required fees.
