NISER - National Institute of Science Education and Research Admission Process

There happen to be some admission rounds at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar offering varied programs for aspirants.

 The most important entrance exam is NEST, through which a student can get admission for any undergraduate program, such as for instance, a B.Sc.program of five years followed by an M.Sc. at NISER. Most of the postgraduate and doctoral programs at the institute are also filled via national exams-depending on the concerned one, either by GATE or NET or CSIR.

The application is generally an online one requiring registration by filling up relevant particulars and authenticating important documents such as transcripts, exam scores, and mark sheets. 

Eligibility Criteria:

Students appearing for their 12th board exams in 2024, including first and second droppers, are eligible. The minimum percentage required in the class 12 board exams is 55% for SC, ST, or PWD candidates and 60% for all other categories. Candidate must secure a position in the NEST 2024 merit list. The first step involves an open call by the institute, followed by shortlisting based on the eligibility criteria of the respective schools and/or scores in the national examinations such as CSIR-UGC-NET/ GATE/ JEST/ GPAT/ DBT/ ICMR/ JGEEBILS. Minimum Percentage Requirement-

A minimum aggregate of 60% marks (or equivalent grade) in the Class XII examination is mandatory for eligibility. For candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Divyangjan categories, the minimum requirement is relaxed to 55%.
