To take admission to the courses offered at NIT Jamshedpur, candidates need to visit the official website of the respective national-level entrance exam conducting bodies and fill out the application form in online mode.

For BTech: Aspirants must fill out the application form for JEE Main/ JEE Main Paper-II through the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA).

For MTech: The institute offers MTech in three specialisations. NIT Jamshedpur MTech admissions are based on GATE scores, followed by CCMT.

For MSc: Candidates need to apply to IIT JAM through the official website of the respective conducting body.

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur NIRF ranking is 86 and that of NIT Patna is 72. So rank wise NIT Patna is better. You can also check the past placement records of each NIT.

For general category, the rank should be below 12000 (Home state)
For OBC category, your category rank should be under 4000 (Home state)
Note that if your category rank is 4000, you would not get it in the first round of counselling, you will have to wait for further subsequent rounds. Best of Luck.

Firstly I would say don't go for ECE branch until you are keenly interested into electronics core subjects, because in my personal experience I have seen 90% electronics graduate settling down in IT industry (may be in India core electronics job are less), so if ultimately you have to be in IT industry go for CSE.

For metallurgical Engineering NIT is the best if we check placements then you will find that NIT is better than IIEST Shibpur. For further studies, the best NIT colleges are NIT Durgapur, NIT Warangal, NIT Rourkela, NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Karnataka, NIT Jaipur. Best of luck for your future.

JEE Advanced Exam is for admission in IITs. To get admission in NIT J you only need good score in JEE Mains. Not Only in NIT J or any other NITs you only need Good JEE Mains Score.
