For metallurgical Engineering NIT is the best if we check placements then you will find that NIT is better than IIEST Shibpur. For further studies, the best NIT colleges are NIT Durgapur, NIT Warangal, NIT Rourkela, NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Karnataka, NIT Jaipur. Best of luck for your future.

So basically if you are interested in coding go for CSE at iiit Jabalpur. One of my brothers also did B.Tech from iiit Jabalpur from CSE branches and now he is placed for a package of 18 LPA. And if you are interested in the core side also then go for NIT Jamshedpur and can go for GATE. All the best!

For OBC, Generally more than 300 is sufficient to get into Nits but depends on which branch you want to get in. For CSE branch minimum 473, For ECE 352 etc. Hope this will help you. Thank you !

Hello Prabhat Ranjan, going away from home for pursuing studies usno big deal. I am sure your parents also won't mind. You must try to convince them that it's best to study what their son likes. Suppose you do mechanical staying at home and then a big company offers you job in USA or UK, will you not go? Best wishes to you.
