The closing rank for NITs in the JEE Main exam varies by the category and the course. The cutoffs for NITs are released after each round of JoSAA counseling. The closing rank at NIT Delhi for the General AI category ranged from 8018 to 27045. B. Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering was the most difficult course to get into. It will be tough for someone with a 62k overall rank and 18k OBC rank in JEE Mains 2024 to get CSE in the high ranking NITs or IITs. Though you can expect some chances at lower NITs or GFTIs in branches of CSE or allied disciplines other than the main stream (like IT or software). The NITs that you are referring to the likes of NIT Agartala, NIT Sikkim or the more recent ones should be able to provide CSE reservation under OBC. As for GFTIs, the likes of IIITDM Kurnool, Assam University, Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology etc. could be tried. For more understanding, keep a watch on the JoSAA counselling.

Candidates scoring 95 percentile in JEE Main can get multiple NITs. This percentile ranges between 60,000 and 90,000 owing to which it is qualifying for most of the NITs. You can get entrances to mid tier NITs and a few bottom some also based on branch/campus. The top NITs we know of, like NIT Trichy or NIT Warangal, would have kept your CAP I, but other prestigious places should be in the range. Always refer to the latest cutoff trends & do participate in this counseling for a better chance of admission.
