Yes, NIT Trichy is good for placements. The college is visited by top companies for placements such as Volvo, Samsung, Sony, and others. As per the NIRF reports in 2023, the median package offered to students for BTech stood at INR 15.76 LPA.

NIT Trichy is one of the top institutes offering quality education to students. NIT Trichy is ranked 731-740 by the QS World Rankings 2026 under the World University Rankings category. The placements offered by the college is good.

The Cutoff trend for BTech courses at NIT Trichy shows a fluctuating trend in competition. For the OBC category students under the Home State quota, the last round closing rank for CSE admission was 1631 in 2025. For the same BTech specialisation, the cutoff rank was 7913 in 2024, while in 2023, it was 1778

As per the NIRF 2025 ranking under the “Engineering” category, Indraprastha IIT Delhi ranks 63 among the top Engineering institutes of the country. The total fee for M.Tech in IIIT Delhi ranges between INR 3.7 Lacs and INR 6 lakh. NIT Trichy MTech fee is INR 1.4 lakh. As per placement statistics, the median package is recorded to be INR 18.17 LPA for IIITD and INR 7 LPA for NIT Trichy. Hence, it can be concluded that the fee is higher at IIITD. NIT Trichy NIRF ranking 2025 is 9th under the Engineering category,  30th under the Overall category,  33rd under the Research Institutions category, 9th under the Architecture and Planning category,  and others. In the latest rankings, the college managed to achieve a good position.

National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, formerly known as Regional Engineering College, was established in 1964 as a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu.  It has also been awarded by ASSOCHAM as the best institute to use ICT tools in education and the High Impact Entrepreneurship Campus award jointly by the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship. Yes, it is a good college.

It's very difficult to get into Top NITs like NIT Trichy, Warangal and NIT Bhopal because these NITs generally have high cutoffs and competitive ranks with 95 percentile and rank 75689 it would be difficult if you are from general category but there may be chances if you are from reserved category like SC and ST category. With this percentile and rank you can surely get a low ranked NITs like NIT Patna, NIT Durgapur, NIT Mizoram, NIT Sikkim, NIT Raipur, and NIT Goa.
