There are many scholarships approved for nursing students. The Tamil Nadu government has provided different type of scholarships for SC/ST students, OBC students and also for the poorest students. The central government also has approved many other scholarships such as National Scholarship Portal (NSP) schemes. Different nursing schools also have merit scholarships. The students are also allowed to apply for Nationalised bank educational loans under Central Sector Interest Subsidy (CSIS) scheme. It is a subsidy scheme where the interest is waived off on the student loans during the study period.

NEET is not mandatory for B.Sc Nursing admissions in most of the states, like Tamil Nadu. But some nursing colleges attached to apex medical institutions or deemed universities consider NEET as a part of their selection process. Nerin or more of the colleges consider Class 12 merit. You should always confirm the post directly.

For most nursing programmes, you need to have completed Class 12 from a recognised board. For B.Sc Nursing and GNM, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) in Class 12 is mandatory in most colleges. The minimum percentage required is usually 45% to 50% in PCB combined. For M.Sc Nursing, you need a B.Sc Nursing degree with at least 55% marks and usually one year of clinical experience.
