You need to get good marks for some courses in 12th and for some you need to get a good result in JEE and other competitive exams as per the eligibility.
For the general category, yes, the competition is cutthroat and to get through it sometimes seems a bit difficult but through hard work, it's easy peasy.

No, there is no such facility for direct admission merely on the basis of TNEA rank in Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology . The student will have to go through the other rounds as well followed by TNEA exam. You might be able to get through the counselling phase. If your score is excellent among the others. The cut off in Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology is approximately 39k or above so your admission chances are indeed high, but you'll have to go through all the stages.

In order to get admitted in Hindustan College of Engineering and Technology, the student needs to fill out the registration forms for TNEA and pass it as it's the sole entrance examination through which HICET admits it's students.
These are the subject necessary for a student to have in class 12th like maths, physics and chemistry along with and aggregate score of 50%.
After clearing the TNEA , the student will take part in counselling session along with others and will be interviewed personally.
