The qualifying cutoff marks depend on the specific branch and the category of the candidate who is applying for the particular course. OIST follows the general cut-off set by the conducting body in the IITs in order to admit a person into M.Tech programmes.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, or GATE, score is accepted as the primary entrance examination for admission to M.Tech. Oriental Institute of Science and Technology, Bhopal. Eligibility criteria for B.Tech. admission at Oriental Institute of Science and Technology, Bhopal, are as follows: The candidate must have passed 10+2 examination or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from a recognised board. A minimum of 45% marks (40% for reserved categories) in the qualifying exam is required. Admission is through JEE Main scores or institute entrance exam. Oriental Institute of Science and technology doesn't offer any BBA program. And they offers 10 B.Tech/B.E courses 6 M.Tech/M.E courses and MCA course. It's necessary to take part in entrance test as to get admitted into the Oriental Institute of Science and technology. They doesn't offer any BBA programme till now.

According to the placement report of 2024, more than 60 companies took part in the campus placement drive of the Oriental Institute of Science and Technology, Bhopal.  Some of the major companies are as follows : TCS,  Wipro, HCL Technologies, Infosys,  Mahindra & Mahindra.

Oriental Institute of Science and Technology, Bhopal is considered as the Tier 2 college till now. However it is one of the highly reputed college of Bhopal with 3.9 stars out of 5 on Shiksha's website yet it is a Tier 2 college.

Direct answer to your question is No. Oriental Institute of Science and Technology, Bhopal is not the best college in Bhopal. However, it one of the highly reputed college with a rating of 3.9 out of 5 on the official website of Shiksha and it has a placement rate of about 80% with the highest package of Rs. 20 Lacs per annum.
