Desh Bhagat University in Punjab was Established as Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes. The institution received University status in 1996. It Situated in Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib District, Desh Bhagat University is a state-private university established under Punjab Government Desh Bhagat University Act, 2012. The University also operates its campuses in Moga, Chandigarh, Shri Muktsar Sahib and Kenya. The University has several international collaborations, including Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan; Sprott Shaw College, British Columbia and Marketing Institute of Singapore among others. 

The number of seat intake for B.Tech is not specified by the college as it takes admission on few exams such as CBSE results as well as PSEB, apart from this It works on first come first serve basis.

The Central University of Punjab (CUP) requires a minimum score of 239 for general category students to be admitted to MBA programs in 2023. For other MBA programs, students should check the official CUP website. The overall CUET-PG cutoff for 2023 is 87–245 marks.

The cutoff for PG courses like MA Political Science, MA Psychology, MBA Agribusiness, and MA International Relations and Political Science ranges from 270–230 to 280–240. To be eligible for admission, candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Commerce with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade. For SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PWD, the minimum is 50%. Candidates must also appear for the CUCET entrance exam for the academic year.

The Central University of Punjab (CUP) requires candidates to have a Master's degree in a relevant subject with a minimum of 60% marks to be eligible for admission. Candidates can apply for admission through the university's official website. 

For M.Tech in Computer Science and Technology, candidates must have:-

• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks.
• A minimum of 6.5 CGPA for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC candidates.
• A minimum of 55% marks for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

For M.Tech admission in 2024, the CUP accepts the following exams: GATE, CCMT, CUET.

According to some sources, the Central University of Punjab (CUP) is less expensive than other universities in India.  The average annual fee for courses at the Central University of Karnataka (CUK) is approximately INR 59,587. General category students pay Rs. 50,000 per semester at CUK.  However, SC/ST students are exempt from tuition fees if their family's annual income is less than Rs. 6 lakhs.

The Central University of Punjab (CUP) has a selection process for M.Tech that includes an entrance test and counseling. Eligible candidates must take the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET). Admission is based on the marks obtained in the CUCET. The minimum GATE score for the general category in 2022 was 359. The 2023 GATE cutoff for the general category was 363–371. 

The final selection of candidates is based on: -

80 percent weightage of the GATE score

20 percent weightage of marks in the personal interview

Some documents required for admission include: -

Graduation marks sheet or grade sheet

Graduation degree or post-graduation degree

Medical fitness certificate.

The Central University of Punjab (CUP) charges between INR 25,490 and INR 46,892 per year for undergraduate courses. Some examples of undergraduate courses and their fees include: 

1) BA: INR 25,490–46,892 per year

2) BArch: INR 25,490–46,892 per year

3) BSc honors physics: INR 25,490–46,892 per year

Chemistry: INR 26,820, with the first year fee at INR 15,200 and the second year fee at INR 11,620

The university also offers postgraduate courses and doctoral courses. For example, the M.Sc. programme costs INR 15,200 for the first year, and the Ph.D. programme costs INR 21,540 for the first year.
