As you have completed your PG in nursing, you are definitely eligible for PhD. Many universities ask prospective students to clear an eligibility exam. That's all. Just approach the institute and then they will guide you further.

While working, you can do the on-campus jobs which can earn you 600-800 dollars per month (I am answering for US universities) which will help you in bearing your day to day expenses, and if something is left from it, you can repay the loan also. Hope it will help you.
