The main difference between a freelancer and a part-time worker is that the freelancer is not bound to work with a single client and has flexibility in choosing their workplace and number of working hours.

However, part-time employees are bound to a company and are required to pay for their services for a minimum number of prescribed working hours.

On top of this, you can ask about the research assistantship or graduate assistantship with your university and apply for that. You can also contact your professors/mentors and confirm the part-time job options. France also has various websites such as Indeed, Monster, Pole Emploi, etc., which can help you with your job hunt. You can create your profile on these websites and set your requirements as well. You may also seek help from your classmates, who may be locals, and learn about the available job options.

France offers multiple part-time employment opportunities for overseas students pursuing higher education there. You can be a language tutor if you're fluent in your native language or any other language and provide tuition to French locals who are willing to learn the same. If you love kids and are responsible you may babysit the children of families who require help with the same. There are also various cafes, hotels, and bars in the country which are in need of part-time staff or workers, especially during the busy tourist season. Apart from these, there are many other options available that one can explore.
