While IIMS, XLRI, ISB and other stand-alone institutes offer a fellow programme in management FPM universities and the IITs and NITs offer a Ph.D. in management. The difference between a Ph.D. and FPM is similar to the distinction between an MBA and PGDM. This is the eligibility criteria the applicants must have completed master's degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science, etc. , from UGC -recognised universities/institutions.

You need to check your Certificate and Institute from which you did your PGDM. If the Institute is not under AIU, then you will not be eligible for Ph.D. You then need to have compulsorily a Masters degree by status and recognition for applying for Ph.D.
