What is the procedure and list of exams we have to clear under DGCA to become a pilot? (Currently engineering student)
What are the process to become a pilot? As you didn't described that whether you want to become an airline pilot or fighter pilot. So I am going to give the process for both fields pilot.
1. Fighter Pilot:
You can join Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot through four ways. NDA (National Defense Academy):
One can join NDA after completing +2 with Physics and Maths compulsory. The written exam consist of two papers and (I. e. Maths and General Awareness) is tough as it is conducted by UPSC and is of 900 marks (300+600 respectively) followed by SSB (Service Selection Board) a five day interview process and medicals. This entry is only applicable for unmarried male applicants. Through this entry, you will get permanent commission. National Defense Academy of India is considered as one of the best tri- service academy throughout the world.
2. CDS Examination:
This exam also is conducted by UPSC for those who are in final year or completed their final year of graduation from a recognised university and Maths and Physics passed in +2. To get a seat in AFA (Air Force Academy), one have to appear in CDS examination which consists of 3 parts I. e. elementary mathematics, English and General awareness wirh each section containing 200 marks to sum up for 600 marks, then followed by SSB and medicals. The toughness level of this exam is less than that of NDA. For this exam also, only unmarried male applicants are eligible. Through this entry also, one gets a permanent commission.
3. AFCAT Entry:
This entry opens up for the applicants who completed their graduation from any recognised university or are in final year with Physics and math passed in +2. The toughness level of this paper is comparatively lower than NDA or CDSE as this paper is conducted by Indian Air Force only. This paper is of two hours and contains 100 questions each carrying 3 marks summing up to 300 marks followed by SSB and medicals. Through this entry, you will only get short service commission for 14 years. Both unmarried male and female are eligible for this exam.
4. NCC Special Entry:
NCC Special entry is applicable only for senior air wing 'C' Certificate holder. They are extempted from written exam and directly goes for SSB and medicals afterwards.

Yes, you can get scholarship while doing CPL course from reputed Government Flying Schools. The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment provides Scholarships to 17 SC candidates on MERIT CUM MEANS BASIS under Central Sector Scholarship Scheme of TOP Class Education for SC students each year. The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment provides Approximately Rs.2200/- per month towards boarding & lodging expenses whereas the Boarding lodging and other expenses is approximately Rs 10000/- per month, therefore, the Balance of expenditure is to be borne by the candidates. Some State Governments provide scholarship to reserve category candidates of their states. Concerned flying school can only forward the application to the respective State Governments. The candidates may approach their State Governments for the same.

There are two ways to be a pilot: a private pilot and a defense pilot. Therefore, first you will have to decide what kind of pilot you want to be—a commercial pilot, a fighter pilot, or an airline pilot. Now you will need to ensure you meet the minimum eligibility criteria, which is: (A) You are 17 years old. (B) You had math and Physics at class 12th level. Depending on where you apply, you may also require medical clearance from the appropriate authorities. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you have two options:
Either take the NDA after the 12th or the AFCAT exam after completing graduation to get an opportunity to be a pilot in the Indian Air Force. Or, apply to get enrolled in a flying school to gain a commercial pilot license (CPL) issued by the Directorate of General Civil Aviation. The steps to becoming a pilot through the private route are:
1. Find a good flying school by comparing fees, training faculty, and credibility. You can take help from the Shiksha website, which will help you choose the best pilot training college at a location of your choice.
2. Ensure that you meet the admission requirements specified by the chosen training school.
3. Then you will be required to gain a minimum of flying experience along with theoretical knowledge. For example, if you want to be a commercial pilot, a minimum of 250 hours of flying experience is required, and for an airline pilot, a minimum of 1,500 hours is needed.
4. After successfully gaining minimum flying experience, you will become eligible for a pilot's licence depending upon the number of flying hours.
5. After that, if you want to apply to any airline, you may be required to undergo further training or aptitude and psychological tests as mandated by the airline. Following that, you may gain more practical flying experience in order to advance to the captain's rank for an airline.

Enrol at a flight school. To obtain a pilot's licence, you must complete a certain number of flying training hours. The type of pilot programme sought determines the number of training hours required. A commercial pilot's licence, for example, necessitates 250 hours of flight time, whereas an airline pilot's licence necessitates 1,500 hours of flight time. Formal education will provide you with a basic education; however, you can hire a private tutor or even join the military to gain more in-depth knowledge and experience. At least 200 hours of flight time is required. The first step is to accumulate the necessary number of flight hours, which is followed by a written evaluation demonstrating your flying abilities and passing the physical examination. Clear the exams. As a condition of employment, several airline firms require pilots to take aptitude and psychological examinations. After being assigned, pilots must complete additional weeks of training and flight time to acquire the feel of being a co-pilot.
