To be eligible for financial aid at K J Somaiya Polytechnic College or at Somaiya Vidyavihar University, applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria: family income below INR 800,000 per annum, status as a Person with Disabilities (PwD), being a ward of defense personnel disabled or deceased in the line of duty, or having represented the state or country in a recognised sport (for BSc Sports and Exercise Science applicants only).

For admission to the After 10th Diploma at DPG Polytechnic, students should have passed Class 10 from a board recognised by the government. No entrance test is required, and admissions are directly made on the basis of merit. The college provides different engineering Diploma specialisations.
