In order to be eligible for the Rajalakshmi Engineering College BTech course, aspirants must meet the eligibility criteria. Candidates who passed Class 12 with a minimum of 50% aggregate (45% aggregate in case of OBC category candidates; 40% aggregate for Most Backward class; just pass for SC/ST candidates) with PCM stream are eligible to apply for the course. The selection is further done based on the candidate's performance in the entrance test, followed by the counselling process. Rajalakshmi Engineering College allots seats after the conclusion of the selection rounds.

REC BTech courses do follow semester system in their curriculum. Each year is divided into two semesters of 4-5 months each. The college offers BTech in various specialisations which all have a minimum duration of four-years or eight total semesters. The entire BTech syllabus as well as the required internships/projects are completed within this course duration.

Rajalakshmi Engineering College TNEA Cutoff was released for the last round. The cutoff ranks closed between the range of 6193 and 46008, for the General All India category candidates.
