During the counselling process, candidates can list multiple RIEs, and based on the merit list, seat allotment is made. To get admission in Regional institute of education, candidate must pass the exam with atleast 50% marks.
The admission process involves the entrance test that is CEE ( Common Entrance Examination) which is conducted by NCERT and then counselling.
The merit list is based on mark obtained in CEE 60% weightage and 40% weightage from 12th exam.

Students who attend RIE Mysore must take the M.Ed exam through its syllabus that comprises 14 core papers combined with 2 elective papers and a required dissertation. The M.Ed exam at RIE Mysore consists of 14 essential papers delivering content about Perspectives in Education, Educational Psychology, Educational Sociology and Curriculum and Instruction as well as others. Through elective papers students can select from three specialisation options including Educational Technology along with Environmental Education and Guidance and Counselling.
