Here are the important dates for the RRB JE 2024 recruitment:
Short Notification Release Date: July 27, 2024
Online Application Start Date: July 30, 2024
Last Date for Online Application: August 29, 2024
Last Date for Offline Payment: To Be Announced
Morever, dates for First Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT-1) and Second Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT-2) are yet to be announced by RRB.

Yes, the Railway Recruitment Board activated the centralised RRB JE online application link at its centralised application website - https://www.rrbapply.gov.in/#/auth/landing. The candidates could apply online for the RRB JE 2024-25 exam untill August 29, 2024. The RRB also provided the RRB JE application correction facility from August 30 to September 8, 2024.
The RRB JE CBT 2 exam was conducted on April 22, 2025. The RRB JE CBT 1 exam was held on December 16, 17 and 18, 2024.

RRB JEs make a base pay of INR 35,400. For this position, the salary range is INR 35,400–1,12,400, with INR 4200 as the grade pay. For 12th pass positions, the base RRB NTPC wage is INR 19,900 to 21,700 (varies depending on jobs). For graduate positions, the base RRB NTPC wage is INR 25,500–35,400 (varies based on posts).

Both jobs are for government junior engineer posts. The pay level for both jobs are similar.
- The RRB JE works for the ministry of railways, and the SSC JE works for various organizations such as BRO.
- If you are posted near your city in RRB JE you have a better chance of staying in your hometown.
- The transfer policy of SSC JE is better than that of RRB as you have a high chance of getting a favorable posting.
- Also, SSC JE will have more powers than RRB JE due to the nature of their work.
- You will get promoted comparatively earlier than RRB JE.
