SID conducts Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) for shortlisting aspirants for BDes course. SEED is an online proctored test conducted for a duration of 60 minutes comprising 60 questions. The questions could be MCQ, match the columns, fill in the blanks, image-based and comprehension based. The paper will contain a mix of questions related to visual sensitivity and judgement, observational, perceptual and reasoning abilities, problem solving, basic knowledge of logic of Science and Mathematics, art, craft and culture, design and environment. Candidates who qualify SEED will be called for further rounds of selection. The final selection is based on Portfolio Review, PRPI Task and Personal Interaction as well as on the basis of the information provided by the candidate in the application form and the chosen specialisation.

Candidates who have passed Class 12 or equivalent or Class 10 along with three-year Diploma with at least 50% aggregate (45% aggregate for SC/ ST) can apply for the BDes course. Additionally, candidates appearing for the final year exam can also apply for any of the BDes specialisation. SID Pune offers BDes in four major disciplines, namely Communication Design (Graphic Design, User Experience Design, Animation, Film Design, Video Film Design), Industrial Design (Product Design, Interior Space Design), Fashion Design and Fashion Communication.
