The Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication (SIMC) cut off schedule varies depending on the year and the entrance examination. The cut off for SIMC's flagship PG programme in Communication and Media Management (PG-CM) is around 70+ percentile in Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP). To gain admission, candidates need to clear this cut-off and also participate in the subsequent Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interaction (PI) rounds.

SIMC offers equal and fair opportunity to every student some of the reservations are as below?
- General category:75% of the seats are reserved for students from General Category
- Scheduled Castes (SC): 15% of the seats are reserved for students from Scheduled Castes
- Scheduled Tribes (ST): 14% of the seats are reserved for students from Scheduled Tribes
- Other Backward Classes (OBC): 27% of the seats are reserved for students from Other Backward Classes.

SMIC PUNE has been known for its placements and The institute had recorded a 100% placements in MAMC (Journalism) and 95.10% for MBA. The highest package offered to MAMC (Journalism) and MBA students was INR 6.36 LPA and INR 13 LPA ICICI BANK was one of the recruiter. The SIMC Pune average package for MAMC (Journalism) and MBA stood at INR 3.99 LPA and INR 5.74 LPA, respectively. Additionally, 51.72% of MAMC (Audio-Visual) students were placed with the highest package of INR 8.52 LPA.

SMIC Pune is know for its placement drive and average CTC was 7 LPA and some major recruiters are Amazon and in journalism major recruiters are Hindustan Times, Network 18, ICICI Bank, Resultrix, kantar, VML, Cognizant, Times Now and even the MBA students are placed in many reputed banks such as ICICI BANK.
