Before TANATA registration, the candidates are advised to check the official eligibility criteria. Only the eligible candidates will be able to participate in the admission process. Some of the basic criteria that the candidates have to meet to be eligible for TANATA are:
- Should have passed 12th standard (or equivalent) qualifying examination from a recognised board with Mathematics as one of the subjects.
- Candidates should have secured minimum 50% marks in the 12th standard (or equivalent) examination.
- OR, the candidates should have acquired a 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central/State Government with 50% aggregate marks

Aspirants must have secured 50% marks in 10+2 or equivalent examination with Mathematics, as one of the subjects;
or, Should have acquired a 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central/State Govts with 50% aggregate marks with Mathematics; or
Should have an International Baccalaureate Diploma passed after 10 years of Schooling with 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination
