What is TANATA?

Tamil Nadu Aptitude Test in Architecture (TANATA) will be held only for the vacant/lapsed seats of BArch degree programmes that fall under the Management and Government Quota. Government Quota seats at Anna University are filled based on the marks obtained in the 12th standard exam and NATA. Further, the management and government quota lapsed seats are filled based on the marks obtained in the 12th standard exam and NATA. The remaining vacant seats will then be filled based on the marks acquired in the 12th standard exam and the JEE Main Paper 2 exam. After this round, if any seats go vacant, they will be filled based on the marks obtained in the 12th standard exam and marks acquired in TANATA.

TANATA 2026 application form dates have not been released yet. The authorities are expected to release the TANATA 2026 application form online soon. All candidates will have to fill out and submit the TANATA application form online before the final date; otherwise, the application will not be accepted. Before TANATA registration, candidates are advised to check the official eligibility criteria. Only eligible candidates will be able to participate in the admission process. Some of the basic criteria that the candidates have to meet to be eligible for TANATA are: Should have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) from a recognised board with Mathematics. 

Candidates should have secured minimum 50% marks in Class 12 (or equivalent).

OR, candidates should have acquired a 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central/State Government with 50% aggregate marks in Mathematics. 

OR, candidates should have an International Baccalaureate Diploma passed after 10 years of Schooling with 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject.

TANATA 2026 application form will be released online. To participate in the admission process, the candidates must fill and submit the TANATA application form 2026 before the final date, which will be announced soon. Before TANATA 2026 registration, the candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria. The application fee has to be paid online i.e., through net banking/credit card/debit card. 

TANATA 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates will be required to meet the following eligibility criteria for TANATA 2026.

  • Candidates should have secured 50% marks in the 12th standard or equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects.
  • Should have acquired a 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by the Central/State Government with 50% aggregate Mathematics marks.
  • Should have an International Baccalaureate Diploma passed after 10 years of Schooling with 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as a compulsory subject of examination.
  • TANATA 2026 scores will be valid for the period of the academic session 2026-27 only.

To be prepared for the exam, the candidates are advised to check and attempt previous years' papers.

Candidates must check the official marking scheme of TANATA. As per the marking scheme, candidates will be allotted 2 marks for every correct answer. No marks will be deducted for incorrect answers. The TANATA paper is divided into two sections - Part A consists of the Mathematics and General Aptitude section while Part B consists of the Drawing questions.
