TANCET counselling process starts soon after the scorecard download window is closed. Typically, the TANCET counselling process for TN MBA admission starts within a month of the scorecard download window close date. Unlike the exam events, candidates find the TANCET counselling dates on the Tamil Nadu MBA web counselling portal.

GCT, Coimbatore, also releases the TANCET counselling press release mentioning the start date and end dates. Candidates can stay tuned to Shiksha's TANCET counselling webpage for current status of the TANCET counselling.

TANCET scorecard is released soon after the result declaration date. The scorecard download process is facilitated within a specified window. Candidates need to download the scorecard of the TANCET exam before the deadline is closed. TANCET scorecard is required at the time of Tamil Nadu MBA counselling process. Candidates failing to show the scorecard at the time of document verification are marked ineligible from the admission process. TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) is a state-level entrance exam conducted by Anna University for admission to MBA, MCA and ME/M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan degree programs offered by colleges in Tamil Nadu. Candidates are allotted a seat during TANCET counselling based on the following reservation criteria:

  • Open Competition (OC): 31%
  • Backward Classes (BC): 26.5%
  • Most Backward Class and Identified Communities: 20%
  • SC (Arunthathiyar): 3%
  • Scheduled Caste: 15%
  • Scheduled Tribes: 1%
  • Backward Class Muslims: 3.5%

The reservation criteria mentioned above has been followed during the Tamil Nadu MBA admission in the past sessions. DTE, Chennai, will release the updated reservation criteria along with the TANCET counselling brochure.

TANCET rank is allotted based on the percentile score of the candidate. In case two candidates have a similar percentile score, he/she will be allotted a rank as per the following criteria. Firstly, candidates having a higher average percentage of marks in the first semester to N-1 semesters in the qualifying degree exam are ranked higher. Here N indicates the total number of semesters in the qualifying exam. In case the tie persist, the older candidate as per the date of birth in the SSLC Certificate will get the preference in the rank allotment.

Candidates need to the following documents for the certificate verification process in the TN MBA MCA counselling:

  • Class 10 mark sheet
  • Graduation mark sheets for all semesters / Years of qualifying Degree exam
  • Class 12 mark sheet / Diploma Certificate
  • Provisional / Degree Certificate
  • TANCET Scorecard/ Rank Card
  • TANCET hall ticket
  • Permanent Community Certificate Card (to avail reservation)

Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai, conducts TANCET counselling online. However, the TANCET supplementary counselling will be conducted offline. Besides the supplementary counselling, the graded convertion counselling will also be held in an offline mode.
