In terms of difficulty, TANCET exam is considered moderately difficult. If compared with other state or national level MBA entrance exams, such as CAT, XAT, or MAT, TANCET is considered easy. Primary reason for easier exam level is the competition and the colleges accepting TANCET scores.

No, there is no definite pattern of the questions from certain topics in the TANCET exam. The candidates are required to cover all TANCET sections and topics under these sections. Anna University can cover any topic to define the questions from the section stipulated in the TANCET syllabus.

Yes, the TANCET MBA question paper will have 20 questions each from five sections i.e. Business Situation Analysis, Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, Data Sufficiency and English Usage. In TANCET MCA exam, there are four sections, therefore with equal weightage each section has 25 questions.

If a candidate has attempted around 80 out of the 100 questions with 80 to 85 accuracy, that is considered a good attempt. However, the percentile score may vary depending upon the number of test takers and performance of all the candidates in the TANCET exam. Candidates must try to attempt all the questions where they know the answers and incorrect responses will also lead to deduction of marks, which in turn decreases the percentile score.

Yes, you can join SIMATS without TANCET, but you will need CAT/MAT/CMAT or any other valid score to join MBA. You cannot join MBA without entrance exams.
You must register for the TANCET exam and submit an application to colleges in Tamil Nadu that recognize TANCET scores for MBA admission if you want to pursue an MBA.
Alternatively, you might apply to CAT/MAT programs and pursue MBA admission.

Admissions to about 297 MCA colleges in Tamil Nadu are done through TANCET so it would be difficult for the students to pursue MCA without appearing for TANCET. But there are a few MCA colleges that do accept students on the basis of entrance exams like NIMCET, BEEE, IPU CET, etc. Please refer to the table below for the best MCA colleges in Tamil Nadu that accept students without TANCET:
College Name | Tuition Fee | Eligibility / Exams |
---|---|---|
Centre Trichy | INR 2.1 lakh | NIMCET |
BIHER | INR 1 lakh | BEEE |
Centre for Development of Advanced Computing | - | IPU CET |
