As per national public university rankings rolled out by a popular university ranking publication, the University of North Carolina Wilmington ranks #103 in the US.
Among all universities that form part of the University of North Carolina education system, only UNC Chapel Hill & NC State University ranked above UNCW.

UNC-Chapel Hill has a 19% acceptance rate, making it quite difficult to get into. The university's rigorous admissions criteria and comprehensive screening procedure for both undergraduate and graduate programs are demonstrated by the low acceptance rate. Students can still succeed, though, if they do well academically. Additionally, a number of factors are given priority by the institution, including the caliber of secondary school records, class rank, academic GPA, references, standardized test scores, and application essays. Once students fulfill their eligibility, submit all the mandatory documents, and pay the application fee, they can expect their offer letter after three to four weeks. The university receives thousands of applications and reviews them based on academic and non-academic factors. The process is quite time-consuming. Students must be ready for further steps once they get the offer letter from UNC-Chapel Hill. They can gather all the documents required for their visa application and admission.

International students must aim for an ACT score of 17 or higher and a SAT score of 930 or higher for UNC-Chapel Hill admission. However, the university offers test options for standardized test scores for undergraduate admission. Also, it is mandatory to submit for students with lower than 2.8 GPA. In addition, undergraduate students must prove their eligibility by holding a secondary school report and submitting crucial documents including letters of recommendation, official transcripts and school reports, and English language proficiency.
