To take admission to USM MS in Computer Science, international applicants are required to have an undergraduate degree with a minimum GPA of 2.75 (achieved in the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework). Other admission requirements are given below:
- Official transcripts and degree certificates or diplomas from all previous colleges or universities attended
- TOEFL / IELTS / PTE
- GRE / GMAT / MAT score (as required)
- Statement of Purpose or writing samples
- 3 Letters of recommendation
- Immunization of records

USM MS in Computer Science includes advanced topics in Computer Science. Also, this programme offers flexibility for students to select courses in or more areas of interest. The duration of this programme is between 1.5 years – 2 years, including a thesis or research project. While working on thesis, students work under close supervision of thesis / project committees. The thesis projects include topics such as Data Sciences, Cybersecurity, AI, Bioinformatics, etc. The MS graduates of USM are well prepared to enter industry jobs or doctoral programs.

If you have scored average marks in your Class 12 or undergraduate but fit the requirements of Universiti Sains Malaysia, you can get into the desired programme. According to the university's basic eligibility requirements, you need to have a minimum score of 60% in your previously qualifying exam and also, meet the English proficiency requirements based on the course of choice.
