The acceptance rate at Galway University is around 86%. This acceptance rate suggests that NUI Galway is easier to get into. For admission to the Uni of Galway's UG courses, Indian students are required to have completed high school education. A Bachelor's degree is required for admission to the PG courses of Galway Uni. A minimum percentage is also required at different course levels. IELTS / TOEFL score has to be submitted too.

In the world rankings, the University of Galway QS ranking is #284 in 2026. In the previous year, this university was placed at #273. This shows that there has been a slight decline in the university's rankings. In the latest subject edition rankings of QS, a few of the subject rankings for 2025 are given below:
- Top 100 for Performing Arts and Nursing
- Top 150 for Hospitality & Leisure Management, English Language & Letters, and Classics & Ancient History

Yes, as per an unofficial source, given below are the stats -
- The University of Galway had a total of over 19,000 students in the year 2024.
- Out of which around 4,000 were international students, which is a big chunk of the total students present at the University.
- The courses offered at the UG level are more popular. Because 52% of the total international students went for them in the year 2024.
