University of Massachusetts Admission Process

Yes, it is possible for the students to transfer to MIT from their current university; however, the students must satisfy the eligibility criteria mentioned below: 
 
· Must have completed minimum two full-time semesters (one full year) at an accredited institute & no more than five semesters (2.5 years) 
 
· MIT does not offer a second UG degree, so if you already hold one, you can only apply for a PG degree 
 
Interested applicants must then submit the documents listed below: 
 
· Transcripts form all secondary & post-secondary institutes attended 
 
· Two Letters of Recommendation from professors on instructors 
 
· School Official Report from advisor, registrar or another official 
 
· Valid SAT or ACT test score 
 
· An application fee worth USD 75 
 
· Must maintain solid academic scores in past education 

Admission process for international students is the same as that for domestic students.

UG students can follow the steps listed below to submit their MIT application:

·      Create a MyMIT account

·      Choose the application type (freshman, transfer or graduate)

·      Fill the online application

·      Provide all mandatory documents such as transcripts, language test scores, etc.

·      Submit a personal statement, explaining the reason of your interest at MIT

·      Submit an essay on the topic, as specified by the institute

·      Clear the interview round

·      Pay the online applicaton fee

·      Submit the application

Candidates must submit the required application materials, university requirements and program-specific requirements, for consideration.

MS Requirements

• GRE is recommended but not required.
• One letter of recommendation from a person in the field of your academic major at the institution most recently attended or from supervisors familiar with your recent job performance. BS/MS applicants are encouraged to include a recommendation from a department faculty member willing to advise their graduate research. Applicants will be required to provide the recommenders name and email address so we can contact the recommender for the letter of recommendation.

GMAT is one of the accepting exams for MBA admission. However, it is not compulsory to qualify GMAT. The GMAT requirement for MBA programme admission consideration at UMass Dartmouth is waived if the applicant proves, to UMass Dartmouth’s satisfaction, any of the following:

• An earned a baccalaureate degree (or the equivalent of a USA baccalaureate degree) in any major/discipline from an accredited college/university with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
• An earned terminal graduate degree (PhD, MD, JD, DNP, DBA, etc.) from an accredited institution.
• Licensure in the United States as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Financial Planner. Other certification programs may also qualify for this waiver at the discretion of UMass Dartmouth.
• At least five years of managerial/supervisory work experience. Minimum documentation required:  Letter of recommendation from at least one (1) employer (preferably current employer) and resume which cites months and years of all employment, all employer (s) name (s), all job title (s), and specific description (s) of managerial/supervisory duties.
• An earned Graduate Certificate from the Charlton College of Business at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30.

UMass Dartmouth admission to the MBA programme is available to qualified candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education. Candidates must submit the required application materials and application fee to the Graduate School. The minimum graduate admission requirements are:

• An official transcript from all institutions of higher education ever attended is required. The transcript must show dates attended, final grades, and credits earned. Applicants who attended a college/university outside the United States must have their official transcripts translated into English, by a credit evaluation service, showing final GPA scores.
• A minimum GMAT score of 500 is preferred. LSAT or GRE could be substituted for the GMAT exam. 
• Two letters of recommendation: preferably from a faculty member or an employer
• Statement of purpose: a 1-2 page essay describing the applicant’s motivation and goals.
• A Current Resume.
• Candidates whose Bachelor’s degree was not earned in an approved English language country must submit either the TOEFL exam (minimum score of 80 internet-based or 550 paper-based) or IELTS exam (minimum band score of 6.5).
