The class 12 marks is not considered while alloting seat to the candidates. BTech seats are allocated based on JEE Main ranks only. However, to be eligible for UPTAC counselling, candidates must have atleast 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates of reserved category) aggregate marks in class 12.

Candidates can withdraw their seats from UPTAC counselling by selecting the "Withdrawal" option. Once a seat is accepted, candidates may choose to withdraw, but they should think carefully before doing so, as AKTU will not permit them to participate in any subsequent rounds.

The last round of the UPTAC counselling is called the special round. Candidates who have confirmed their seats after last main round of the counselling process are not eligible for this round. Or, all such candidates who have been allotted seats and have paid seat acceptance fee but have not withdrawn in Stage 2 & 3 cannot appear in this round.
Fresh registration are held for the special round. Candidates have to register for using the link available on the official website of UPTAC for participating in UPTAC special counselling round.

In 2024, 87389 seats were offered in BTech courses across all the participating colleges. Candidates who register for UPTAC counselling can check the seat matrix on the official website of UPTAC - uptac.samarth.edu.in. The seat matrix includes following details:
- Stream
- Institute type
- Institute name
- Programme
- Quota
- Seats in various category
- Total seat intake

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Uttar Pradesh conducts the UPTAC counselling. The counselling is held at state level based on scores f various national level enetrance exms liks JEE Mains, NATA, CUET UG and PG. The participating colleges of the UPTAC counselling process icnludes all institutions affiliated/constituent to AKTU and 12 other state universities.

UPSEE is Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam which is no londer held. The last UPSEE exam was held in 2020. Since then, it has been replaced by the JEE Main for admission to undergraduate programs in engineering and other fields in Uttar Pradesh.
Now, UPTAC counselling is held for admission of the candidates to the first year of BTech/BArch/BBA/BMS/BCA/BDes/BPharm/BHMCT /BFAD/BFA/BVoc/MBA/MBA (Integrated)/MCA/MCA(Integrated)/M Tech (Integrated) and 2nd Year (Lateral Entry) of BTech/BPharmacy/MCA.
BTech admission are one based on JEE Main scores. BArch admission is done based on NATA scores and for other courses CURT UG / PG scores are used

For Btech admisison in UPTAC counselling:
- Candidates need at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates of reserved category) in the following subjects taken together: Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Computer Science/Electronics/Information Technology/ Biology/Informatics Practices/ Biotechnology/Technical Vocational subject/Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies/Entrepreneurship.
OR
Candidates must have passed minimum 3 years Diploma examination with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates of reserved category).

UPTAC counselling usually has 5 rounds and 1 special round. Candidates eligible for UPTAC counselling must complete the UPTAC registration, upload their documents, undergo document verification, fill in their choices, check the allotted seats, submit their willingness, and pay the seat confirmation fee.
