USA has no guarantee of jobs in any sector until u r sponsored by a company. Firstly, you need to find a employer/job who is willing to sponsor your work VISA. Now on employer's part that costs few thousand dollars, also employer is required to get permission from US labour deptt that they could not find any person of the qualification or experience in their country so they need to hire from a foreign country. which further makes it difficult to find a employer who is willing to take all this pain to hire a foreigner.
After your work VISA, which is H1B, is sponsored, it lasts for 3 years max. then after you have to extend it, which is max extendable to 3 years more, which totals to 6 years. So on work VISA you can work for max of 6 years.
