Founded in the year 2015, the Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University is a State University established by the Government of Gujarat. Located in Junagadh, BKNMU is a UGC recognised which has also been recognised by the AIU. The jurisdiction of the University includes Junagadh, Porbandar, Gir Somnath and Devbhumi Dwarka districts.

Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University is primarily merit-based. However, the university conducts entrance exams for admission to B.Ed, M.Ed and PhD programmes. Entrance exam is not mandatory for admission to B.Ed and M.Ed programmes. For all other courses, the selection is based on the qualifying exam scores of the candidates.
