Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya Highlights 2025
DAVV formerly known as the University of Indore is accredited with A + Grade by NAAC. The institute was established in 1964 by the Act of the Legislature of Madhya Pradesh. The university, through around 239 colleges and various schools of study, offers UG, PG, and other courses to students across Computer Engineering, Journalism, and various other streams. The university also provides open and distance learning courses to the students. Devi Ahilya University is approved by AICTE.
Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya is ranked 101-150 by the NIRF 2024 under the University (Overall) category. Located in Indore, DAVV has also started the Self-supporting courses in the country. Out of its 37 schools and centres of study, 20 schools are known to offer courses on a self-supporting basis. Every year, the university provides education to nearly 10,500 students enrolled in regular courses and nearly 1,000 students enrolled in distance education mode.
The university also provides one of the best facilities for undergraduate and postgraduate course students. It has more than 23,450 PhD theses, 6 lakh books, 8,965 e-books, and various e-journals on several subjects. To get into DAVV, candidates must qualify JEE Main to sit for the MP BE counselling process. There is no specific percentage mentioned under the elgibility criteria. However, candidates need to adhere to below eligibility criterias:
- Passed 10+2 examination with Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Computer Science/Electronics/Information Technology/ Biology /Informatics Practices/ Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject/Agriculture/Engineering Graphics/Business Studies/Entrepreneurship.
- In addition to the above, Candidates who have passed the 12th examination of the 10+2 scheme in the Agriculture stream (with three main agriculture stream subjects) are also eligible for admission only in the Agriculture Engineering Branch.
- Obtained at least 45% marks in the required three main subjects (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category of Madhya Pradesh).
For DAVV MBA admissions, the university offers MBA through its affiliated colleges for which the MPMET scores are accepted. Other than that, DAVV also accepts CAT scores to shortlist candidates for the GD/PI round.
At the undergraduate level, the Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya offers three to five-year B.Sc., B.Tech/ B.E. BBA and other courses to students. B.E. Is offered in six specialisations. Yes, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya has separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. A total of 12 on-campus hostels are available, out of which 6 hostels are for boys and 6 hostels are for girl students. Separate accommodation facilities are also available for working faculty and teaching staff. DAVV hostels are well-furnished with beds, study tables and chairs, cupboards, fans, etc. All the hostel buildings are wifi enabled and can be used by students, faculty and non-teaching staffs. All the hostels are supervised by wardens to enforce rules and regulations. Rooms are typically twin-sharing, and students need to complete a hostel accommodation request form to apply.
DAVV has two libraries, Central Library in Takshasila Parisar and H.S. Kamat Student Home Library in Nalanada Parisar. Both serve research and educational needs, offering computers, centralised air-conditioning, etc. There are 10 reading rooms with a combined seating capacity of 500 students. The entire library is Wi-Fi enabled with a vast collection of books, journals, reference materials, video lectures, and e-journals.
