Embracing Change: A Year of Discovery at Symbiosis
My name is Khyati Kela, and I am from Raipur, Chattisgarh. When I was in Class 10, I wanted to pursue my career in Commerce. So, I chose Commerce with Computer Science in Class 11. Later, in Class 12, I decided to do BCom Hons. in Costing. I made a list of 5 top colleges where I wanted to get admitted, and the 1st one was Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce. At that time, I realised manifestation and effort can make anything come true. I got the admission in one of the most prestigious colleges in Pune, and the main story begins now.
Beginning of the Journey
I always wanted to go out for studies. But leaving my hometown, Raipur, was tough. I had to adjust to a new city with new people and college life all alone. Initially, it felt overwhelming, especially as an introvert. The first day of college was very difficult for me as I was unfamiliar with all the things. Though the first few weeks were all about the orientation of college so you do not get to talk to people more. But as the regular classes began, I got to interact with a few people.
College life is a must to experience and learn new things. Being away from family is a big task, and homesickness is really a thing. There are mixed emotions, on some days you feel excited and on the other days, it just feels like you need to go home.
A Second Home: Lessons from College Life
At the end of the day, it is what you choose to do, the life you want. But Overall, being away from family teaches you so many things that not everyone has an opportunity to learn. The first year of college was all about getting to explore the city, the college, and the people there. But now that it has been more than 1 year in this college and city, this city feels like a second home. Overall, college life is a mixture of emotions. One thing I love about our college is the events. The events in Symbiosis Colllege of Arta and Commerce, Pune are the best, you get to participate, learn new things, and meet different people. College life has taught me so much and made me a strong individual. I have met people from different backgrounds and learnt so much. Being away from family has taught me to be strong, independent, and responsible.
