Extracurricular Activities in SIES
SIES COMS is a well-known brand in terms of a college that organizes various extracurricular activities frequently. Owing to the pandemic, these activities were devoid of their usual fervour but things look quite promising for the 2022-23 academic year. Since the college campus has thrown its doors open for classroom lectures from March 2020, both, the college officials and students are looking forward to compensate as much as possible for the time lapsed by making the forthcoming events and activities as effective and memorable as possible.
Student Committees
SIES COMS firmly believes in involving students along with the faculty members in various committees to achieve the desired goal of progressing towards excellence. In total, there are 21 faculty-driven and five entirely student-driven committees which strive hard to not only meet the goals and duties set by the college authorities but also surpass the expectations set for the same. These committees cover different areas such as Academics, Placements, Corporate Interactions, Events, Cultural & Sports, Research, Alumni, Branding & Infrastructure and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Currently, there are a total of 26 students who are a part of the Academic, Cultural, Sports, and Sponsorship committees. In addition to the aforementioned ones, there are other committees as well like examination, mentoring, discipline, women empowerment, entrepreneurship, etc. A key point to note is that any good work carried out while being a part of any committee can be highlighted during the placement interviews since the recruiters acknowledge those who have been good in balancing both their studies and extracurricular-based duties.
Student Council
It is the apex body which comprises a few selected students that represents the entire student fraternity officially. The sole aim of this council is to initiate and conduct clear communication between the students and various committees of the college. It gives students a great opportunity to
hone leadership skills as well as execute different institutional activities and projects. Students also get a beneficial platform to voice their opinions, ideas, and concerns with the entire college community and college at large. The student council of the 2021-23 batch consists a total of eight students. Being a part of this council is considered to be a matter of prestige since one has to clear multiple interview rounds that are held by the senior council members and some college officials.
College Events
SIES also organises various activities and events for its students at both inter and intra-levels, with over 100 students participating. Most of these events are usually of one-day duration, such as the ones conducted by the CSR committee, Debating Society, Finscom (finance society), Academic Committee, and Music Club, to name a few. Such events not only bring the students and the college community closer together but also help them improve their management and communication skills. In the past, SIES COMS has also successfully conducted various seminars, conferences, and alumni meets across its full-time MMS and PGDM courses and specializations.
In conclusion, SIES aims to equip all its students with the desired leadership and management acumen by encouraging them to be a part of various activities and college events as much as possible. Participation in such events eventually helps in bolstering one’s CV, especially during internships and executive placements.
