Gujarat Technical University postponed all exams following the government orders. The final-year exams of GTU were earlier scheduled to begin from July 2.
Gujarat government rolled back all its orders related to the conduction of the University exams from July onwards. The order affects the conduct of the Gujarat Technical University. In the latest notice published by GTU on its website, the University stated that the Gujarat state government postponed the Gujarat Technological University exams. The exams were earlier slated to commence from this week. On July 1, Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama declared that all university exams in the state have been put on hold. “Although the state and its universities are ready to conduct examinations, MHRD Secretary Amit Khare called and suggested maintaining uniformity across the country, to which we agreed,” said Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama.
Government after receiving numerable requests from the students regarding the postponement of the exams decided to take a decision considering the ongoing pandemic situation and continuously rising COVID-19 cases. On July 1, Gujarat Minister Chudasama announced that all exams of GTU and other state colleges and universities of the state are postponed abiding with the Central Government instructions.
GTU earlier conducted an opinion poll on its website regarding whether the students want the exams to be conducted in July. Around 54,000 students voted for the exams to be conducted as they wanted to get done with their exams. 900 students were seen to oppose the conducting of exams. The poll had three options where the students were told to mark their choice of options with respect to conducting exams. One option included the regular classroom exams to begin on Thursday i.e. July 2, the other option stated about the online exams while the third option stated a special exam to be conducted once the normalcy is restored.
Earlier, the Gujarat University announced that the annual examinations of final year undergraduate students, and second and fourth-year postgraduate students will be conducted in two phases from July 2, 2020, and July 13, 2020. However, after this decision regarding the postponement of the exams, it does not appear that these exams will be conducted anytime soon. As of now, the exams are cancelled until further notice.
