I scored 96.3 per cent in Class12 board exams. Though I’ve got decent scores in my entrance examinations but in Tamil Nadu, we have a system of cutoff marks where our marks of Maths, Physics and Chemistry are taken and converted into a 200-mark scale. I had a cutoff of 197, which helped me to secure a seat with a full waiver of the tuition fee in Alpha Collge of Engineering. The college offers a full waiver of tuition fees to students who have a cutoff of more than 180.

I come from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry background as these were my core subjects in Class 11 and 12. I love Mathematics to the core and have a knack of not leaving a problem until it’s solved. Out of all streams, I felt I’ll use Mathematics better in Computer Science and Engineering since it involves algorithms and a lot of logical thinking. Moreover, while we frame our algorithms we dig deep into Mathematics concepts which enhance my knowledge in both Mathematics and Computer Science as subjects. Computer Science also has a lot of opportunities everywhere, which is an added advantage. Hence, I chose to graduate in Computer Science and Engineering.

My college experience has been great. I joined with an aspiration of making a mark and I loved what I was learning. All the classes were my favourite, but to be specific, I liked attending classes of Problematic papers and Computer Science and Engineering and took a lot of problematic papers. I never had a particular favourite spot in my college, since I used to spend my time evenly, be it in the library or in sports, etc. I was the student placement coordinator in my college, where I encouraged, intimated and motivated my peers to make sure, everyone clears through. Given a chance, I would have done a project which would probably be a great asset to our country.

My college has moulded me into a fine person and a skilled professional, who takes informed decisions. Moreover, I’ve participated in many events conducted by Pan-IIT Alumni Leadership Series, which has a tie-up with our college, which was a perfect platform, where all Engineering students would assemble as a community and we would share our views and ideas which can prove to be a great turning point.

I see many opportunities in the field of CS, hence proving that Engineers have a bright career and wide career options ahead.

After graduation, I would like to go for higher studies in Data Science as that career option excites me the most, looking at the huge demand of Data Scientists in today’s world.
