The opening and closing GATE score indicates the minimum score required to get admission to particular branch/specialisation. It can vary depending on the institute, branch, category, etc. For example, the GATE IISc Bangalore admission cutoff for Round 1 CSE branch is 800 to 1000, where 800 is determined as the low and 1000 indicates the high score in GATE. The admission cutoff for NITs is usually lower than that of IITs. On the other hand, for new and mid NITs, a GATE score 500+ is considered safe for admission.
