The news came as a relief to thousands of students aspiring to pursue postgraduate courses. 

Patna University declared that it is all set to begin the evaluation work of the final year examination's answer sheets after the mid of May. According to the reports PU decided to initiate the evaluation process of the exams conducted before the imposition of the COVID-19 lockdown, after May 17. The news came as a relief to thousands of students aspiring to pursue postgraduate courses. 

As the reports suggest, the registrar of PU, Manoj Mishra stated that the evaluation work of answer sheets would begin immediately after the end of the third phase of lockdown i.e. May 17. Mr Mishra further added, "The university will go for centralised copy evaluation following proper social distancing and precautionary measures directed to contain the spread of coronavirus." Talking about the pending exams, he said that they will be conducted in the month of June to maintain the university’s academic calendar. Keeping in view the impact of delayed results, PU vice-chancellor H N Prasad at a meeting on Tuesday gave nod to dispose of the pending works at the university levels, which include admission, examination, evaluation and other academic-related issues. Principals of the constituent colleges, dean and faculties also attended the meeting.

Patna University conducted the examinations for third-year students of BA, BCom and BSc programmes from February 27 to March 14. However, examination for vocational courses and other traditional courses, which was scheduled between March and May, got postponed due to the nationwide lockdown imposed to contain the spread of the contagious virus. Talking about the solutions for the results of pending exams and online admissions, the dean of students’ welfare, N K Jha said, “The students seeking admission in PG courses with pending results will be given fair opportunity to apply in the ongoing admission process.”

According to Mr. Jha, the University can revise the admission schedule depending on the declaration of results, as admissions in MA, M.Com and M.Sc are taken on the basis of marks obtained by the applicants in the previous examination.
