We all make decisions every day. Some decisions are made in the blink of an eye, some take much longer. In fact, occasionally we take months or even years to make a decision. Why? Because these decisions are important to us – they are life-changing and they often determine how our lives will unfold in the long term. And so given the stakes, we want to make informed decisions by probing within ourselves, doing research and talking to a lot of people. One of the most important decisions we all take at some point in time and sometimes multiple times is around the choice of higher education and career. And it would be fair to say, that it does have a far-reaching impact on how our lives will pan out.

Today, prospective students are spoilt for choices when it comes to figuring out what careers they should pursue and accordingly, what higher education course they would need to take in college. When I speak to students, I often hear the same thing:

“There are so many choices for undergraduate courses. What is the right one?”

“There isn’t enough information that helps me figure out what career is best for me.”

“I am confused whether I should do MBA or M.Tech.”

Once the career and course decisions have been made, then the next set of questions come up:

Do I need to take an entrance exam? Which one? How should I prepare for it?

What are the best colleges for a course? What is the eligibility to apply?

What is a good score to get admission into a certain College?

What do students who graduated from college X have to say about the facilities, faculty, job prospects and their learning experiences?

What was the average salary of a student who graduated from college Y?

The list of questions is endless. Naturally so! Course selection and college selection are extremely important decisions and as a prospective student or a parent you want to make an informed decision and hopefully, the right one. We at Shiksha want to help you with making that decision.

Shiksha’s aspiration is to be your platform of choice to research courses and colleges, get credible and detailed information on both, look at hard facts and hear from experts or others like you, and empower you to make an informed decision on course and college selection.

In my next post, I will share some insights on what are we doing at Shiksha so that we can help you achieve your higher education goals.
