Q: How is  PGDM in Healthcare Management different from Hospital Management?

A: The Healthcare Management Program covers industries such as hospitals, public health, pharma, medical devices, health insurance and healthcare IT. Hospital Management Program offered by other institutes primarily helps students in joining hospitals as managers. MBA in healthcare management can complement your existing graduation. And, also can take your career to an industry that deals in healthcare. Recruiters such as Johnson and Johnson, Infosys, Cognizant have shown active participation in placement sessions.

Q: What is the eligibility criteria?

A: You need to be a graduate and should have taken an entrance exam such as CAT, XAT or CMAT. Preference is given to students with healthcare and computer science background and experience. Students are shortlisted basis their overall profile. There is no specific cutoff to entrance exams.

We look for students with good academic records in Class 10th, 12th and graduation.

Q: What has been the placement trend for last year? Also, which industry/recruiters participate in placements sessions?

A: We have placements in pharma companies, med device companies, Healthcare IT, and lifescience consulting organisations. Placements was 100 per cent with an average of Rs 9.5 lakh per annum last year. Johnson & Johnson, Roche, Novo Nordisk, Innovaccer, Infosys, Cognizant, Intas and many more.

Q: when will the next session begin?

A: The next session i.e. 2020-22 will begin in June next year.

Q: Do you offer any scholarship?

A: Scholarships are offered to only Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) candidates.

Q: What is the current seats intake?

A: Currently, we have 125 students (63 in the first and 62 in the second year). Gender ratio is close to 50:50. Students are from across the country representing 20 states of India. Over 25 per cent are engineers in IT, electronics, Biotechnology and Biomedical engineering, 17 per cent are engineers in other fields, 18 per cent are with pharmaceutical background, 20 per cent are with healthcare background such as MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, BUMS, etc., and 25 per cent are with other graduation such as BSc, BCom, BBA, etc. Nearly 32 per cent are freshers while 21 per cent have up to and 28 per cent have over two years of experience.

Q: Will this course help getting work opportunities abroad?

A: The degree is approved by AICTE and has been given equivalence to MBA by Association of Indian Universities. The programme is also accredited by NBA. Many of our students have gone abroad to work with qualification from GIM HCM.

Candidates need to have at least three-years of work experience to apply for Hybrid PGDM course at GIM Goa. Aspirants also need to complete bachelor's degree or equivalent with at least 50% aggregate to apply for Hybrid PGDM.

No, direct admissions are not available for many courses at GIM Goa. The accepted entrance tests for admission to the UG, PG, and other courses is XAT, CAT, and others. FPM direct admissions are available for students.

GIM Goa has all the facilities given by tier 1 college. Goa Institute of Management was establsihed in the year 1993 & is accredited by AMBA,  SAQS,  & BGA. GIM is a member of AACSB. GIM Goa popular programmes are PGDM & the HCM are accredited by the NBA
