Behala College is a government-sponsored, state-aided college that offers autonomous status, making it a government-affiliated institution. The college was initially set up under a government refugee rehabilitation scheme. It was established in 1963 under a government scheme and continues to receive support from the government, even after obtaining autonomous status from the UGC.
