Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit Highlights 2025
Established in 1994, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS) located at Kalady, Kerala is one of the pioneering Sanskrit Universities in India in teaching, research and innovations. It has eight regional campuses across Kerala. The objective of the University is to impart knowledge in Sanskrit, other Indian and Foreign Languages, Social Sciences and Fine Arts. It is a UGC-recognised university. It is the first University in Kerala to receive the honour in the first cycle of accreditation by NAAC with A grade in 2014. It introduced the Choice Based Credit and Semester System (CBCSS) in 2005. The University implemented the system of Outcome Based Teaching, Learning and Evaluation (OBTLE) at the post graduate level becoming the first University in Kerala to introduce OBTLE in 2018.

SSUS BA admission dates have not been announced yet by the University for the academic year 2024. However, according to the 2023 data, SSUS BA deadline for submission of application forms will be tentatively in June and SSUS BA Cutoffs will be released tentatively in July.
SSUS BA course admission 2024 is both merit and entrance-based. The University has introduced the Single Window System to avoid delay in the processing of representations, requests, applications submitted by students. The University has a centralised admission process. Given below is the SSUS BA admission process 2024:
Step 1: SSUS BA Application Process 2024
Candidates must submit the application form through the University's website and pay SSUS BA application fees. The application fee can also be remitted through Demand Draft.
Step 2: SSUS BA Selection Criteria 2024
The admission will depend on the merit and accordingly, they can decide their centers. The University also accepts the scores of an aptitude test for BA Music, BA Dance (Mohiniyattam/ Bharatanatyam) courses. Candidates must also appear for an Interview.
Step 3: SSUS BA Counselling and Seat Allotment
Shortlisted candidates are required to appear for the counselling process and pay SSUS BA course fees.

Candidate seeking admission to BA at SSUS must follow multiple steps as the part of the application process. Given below is the SSUS BA application process 2024:
- Submit the application online through University websites on or before the last date prescribed
- Candidates must provide personal, guardian, educational details, upload the documents and pay SSUS BA application fees
- The print copy of the application shall be sent to the Heads of the Departments/ Campus Director of regional Centres/ Main Centre along with the copy of documents and fee receipt

Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit Scholarships
Sree Sankaracharya offers two types of scholarships.
Encouraging Sanskrit Studies under UG Programme:
- This scholarship is for undergraduate Sanskrit students only
- It is given to the first year to final year BA Sanskrit students
- The rate of scholarship shall be Rs 500 per month w.e.f. 2018 admission
- The scholarship duration is for 3 years
- Scholarship shall be payable for 10 months in a year excluding semester break
- The scholarship shall be disbursed on a monthly basis
- Students obtaining a minimum of 75 per cent or above attendance in a month are eligible for the scholarship
- If the student discontinues the BA programme after receiving the scholarship, he/she should refund the amount received from the University before obtaining transfer certificate and other certificates
University Merit Scholarship to Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students:
- The number of Merit Scholarship awarded in respect of each courses will be limited to:
- 25 per cent of the admitted strength (in each centre) in the case of post graduate courses in non -Sanskrit subjects and all under graduate courses offered by the University
- 50 per cent of the admitted strength (in each centre) in the case of post graduate courses in Sanskrit subjects
- The value of Merit Scholarship for each course shall be BA (all combination): Rs 300, BFA: Rs 300, MA (all subjects): Rs 500 and MSW: Rs 500
- Merit Scholarship shall be payable for not more than 10 months in a year excluding the period of semester break, subject to clause (ix) hereunder, if the students secure 80 per cent or above attendance irrespective of the number of working days in a month. If a student fails to attain 80 per cent of attendance in a particular month, then that student will not be eligible for the scholarship for that particular month

SSUS BA seats for each course shall remain as per existing regulations, except in case of open courses for which there shall be a minimum of 15 students and maximum of 75 students per batch (subject to a marginal increase of 10). Each student shall register for the courses in the prescribed registration form provided by the University in consultation with the faculty advisor who then shall permit registration on the basis of the preferences filled by the student and availability of seats in the programme.

The Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS) requires a minimum of 40% marks in the PG entrance exam for admission.
For the Ph.D. program, candidates must score 50% or more in the entrance exam. Candidates from the SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy Layer)/ differently-abled category receive a 5% relaxation.
