How I chose my course and college: Tushar Goyal
I passed class 10 with a good score of 8.0 CGPA. With such good marks, I had the chance to choose Science stream by my mind said I should choose Commerce stream as my interest lied there.
So, I decided to pursue BBA at UG level and MBA at PG level. After giving my class 12, I applied in various colleges. I wanted to study at Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies as it is every Commerce student’s dream college. Unfortunately, I was not selected there but I got through many other colleges.
At that time, my relatives recommended IP University to me so I filled its form. I got selected and chose Northern India Engineering College (now renamed as Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta Institute of Technology and Management) as it is one of the top college of IP University and is also close to my home. I am studying BBA (General) in this institute and have completed my first year.
How I cracked college admission
I was little worried after I got to know that there are entrance exams for most of BBA courses. So I started my preparation when my class 12 exam was going on. I took exams like DU-JAT, IPUCET, NPAT, SET, etc. and get good rank in CET exam which is conducted by IP University. The other universities which I tried for admission at include Delhi University, NMIMS, Symbiosis Institute, Benett University, Manipal University, Lovely Professional University, Amity University, etc. I got selected in many of them but I wanted a college close to my home so I chose IP University.
My first year in college
When I joined the college, initially, I didn’t like the atmosphere there. Everyone was just busy in themselves and there were many rules and regulations. I was feeling little uncomfortable that time and therefore didn’t even like to go to college. But gradually, as the time passed, I adjusted in that atmosphere. It took me almost 1 month to adjust properly. I made friends and started spending time with them. I also started participating in extra-curricular activities and events in my college. I like to attend all the lectures and my attendance was the highest in my class in first year. I will try to maintain it in second and third year as well.
I have attended many guest lectures and participated in industry interaction programmes. If I get a chance to organize an event in my college, then I would bring more companies for interactions with students so that they get to learn from industry leaders and successful personalities.
I also want to do MBA from a good college so I am preparing for that from now only.
