The Delhi University has asked various school boards across the country to share the links of their class 12 examination results with it so that the documents can be verified online.

The Delhi University has urged all the schools across the country to share the Class 12 result links with it, in order to verify the documents submitted by the students. The move comes in the wake of the ongoing coronavirus crisis in the country and to avoid large gathering of students to visit the varsity for document verification as a forensic examination of certificates and mark sheets is not feasible.

The University of Delhi already has access to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Board exam results. This enables the university to directly check the authenticity of mark sheets of the applicants claiming to have passed out from a CBSE-affiliated school. However, since some exams are yet to be conducted, the final CBSE 12th Board exam 2020 result is yet to be declared while many of the state boards have already announced the results.

β€œWe did this exercise in May. We have sent a request letter to various boards across the country to share their links with the university so that verification of documents can happen online. Two boards have shared the links with us and we are hopeful that others will also do so,” said Shobha Bagai, Dean (Admissions).

Apart from CBSE, the two boards that have agreed to share their link with the university are NIOS and Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE).

DU had last year made it mandatory for all its departments to carry out forensic checking of certificates and mark sheets submitted by students seeking admission to its courses.

The decision was taken in view of the β€˜Ankiv Baisoya controversy’. In 2018, the varsity had cancelled the admission of Baisoya, a former president of DU Students’ Union (DUSU) after his documents were found to be forged.

The DU Registration 2020 was started on Saturday i.e. June 20, 2020. Over 57,000 students have registered on the Delhi University admission portal within 24 hours after it went live at 5 pm. The DU admissions 2020 process was delayed in view of the coronavirus outbreak. Last year, the registration process commenced on May 30.
