PS Anil, a native of Thodupuzha in Idukki district, filed a petition challenging the government of Kerala’s decision to conduct Kerala SSLC and DHSE +1,+2 exams amid COVID-19 lockdown.

Kerala High Court on May 25, 2020, dismissed a petition that challenged the state government's decision of conducting the Secondary School Leaving Certificate, SSLC  and Plus Two examinations from May 26 amid the ongoing pandemic. According to the government’s order, the Kerala SSLC and DHSE +1,+2 exams is all set to begin today i.e. May 26 and will conclude on May 31, 2020.

While dismissing the plea challenging the conduction of Kerala SSLC and Kerala Class 12 and 11 exams, the court said, “It is not a complete shutdown, the state government informed the court that they are conducting the exams with the necessary precautions.”

The case was handled by a division bench headed by Chief Justice S Manikumar. He clarified that all necessary activities must be undertaken during lockdown even. The petition issued to challenge the government of Kerala’s decision to conduct exams was filed by PS Anil (a native of Thodupuzha in Idukki district).

The candidates who are supposed to appear for the exams must read the guidelines issued by the Government. Wearing masks during exams is a must as a precautionary against the COVID-19 spread. The teachers are also advised to carry their gloves and masks with them and follow all the safety measures asked for.

Earlier, the government of Kerala decided to postpone the SSLC and plus 2  board exam to the first week of June, in view of the Ministry of Home Affairs directive that no classes or examinations will be conducted till May 31.
