Do you think coaching is essential for achieving good marks in the CBSE Class 10 exams?
According to the poll, 51 percent of students said they have already joined coaching to prepare for their CBSE Class 10 board exams. This clearly shows that students rely on coaching to score well in board exams, and thus is very important.
9 percent of respondents said that they would like to join coaching for their preparation, which means that they are still considering it as an option. Moreover, if they join, this number can be added to the above 51 percent, clearly showing that running a coaching institute can also be counted as a business option.
11 percent of respondents rely on teachers and friends. This goes on to show that they trust their school and peer group for support, and that teachers are available to students and want students to score well in the exams.
10 percent said their parents teach them at home. In today’s time, lucky are the ones who get personal attention right at home!
And 18 percent of respondents said passing marks are enough and that they do not need to study anymore. This proves that not everyone aims for super-high scores.
The data above shows that more than half of the students are already depending on coaching, but there is also a big group of children who believe in self-study or family guidance.
Why Coaching?
Coaching centres are popular and running because they provide a planned study routine, doubt-clearing sessions, regular tests, and expert guidance. Students get personal attention here, and that is why they do not feel shy to ask questions to their teachers at coaching centres. At school, students fear asking questions in front of 30-40 classmates.
For many students, coaching feels like a safety net as they don’t want to miss out on anything that could come in the exam. Apart from this, studying with other students in coaching creates a competitive atmosphere, which can push you to work harder.
But Do You Really Need Coaching?
The truth is - not always. Many students score over 90 percent without ever stepping into a coaching institute. If you are disciplined, create a study timetable, stick to it, and clear your doubts in school itself, you can do just as well. Those who get help from parents or friends often enjoy a more relaxed learning style.
And let’s not forget the 18 percent in the poll who said passing marks are enough! It’s a reminder that success looks different for everyone. Not every student dreams of 95 percent or above—some just want to pass, move forward, and focus on their chosen career path.
Final Thoughts
The Shiksha.com poll shows that while coaching is the go-to option for most students, it is not the only way to prepare. Whether you choose tuition centres/coaching, self-study, or parental guidance, it all depends on your learning style.
In a nutshell, it is the student’s hard work, consistency, and focus that matter. Coaching can guide you, but in the end it is the effort put in by students to score well in the CBSE Board exams. Do not compare your preparation style with others. Just stay consistent and trust your process, and you will end up rising high in every field you choose.
