Known for his student-centric approach, Mr Mishra believes in empowering learners through creativity, discipline, and professional exposure. His commitment to excellence continues to inspire both faculty and students in their pursuit of meaningful storytelling and media excellence. Shiksha.com had an engaging conversation with him about various topics, including the importance of practical, studio-based learning and how the institution is bridging the gap between theory and real-world application. The conversation that followed was:
Q. What is the difference between the teaching methodology in your institute and others?
AAFT offers a truly professional learning experience that feels like being part of the real industry. The teaching here is very practical; students don’t just study from books, they learn by doing. What makes AAFT different from other institutes is its hands-on approach. We get to work on real projects, from short films and news shows to ad shoots and documentaries, all guided by experienced faculty who are working professionals.
The campus has 7 fully equipped professional studios, advanced post-production labs, and top-quality cameras, lights, and sound equipment. Students learn in a real studio environment where every class feels like a production set. Workshops with industry experts, film festivals, and live events make the experience even richer. The atmosphere is creative, energetic, and inspiring, perfect for anyone passionate about media and filmmaking.
Internships with production houses, TV channels, and digital media companies give us exposure to real-world challenges. AAFT truly helps the student grow, not just as a student, but as a professional ready for the industry.
Q. How are you preparing your students to be industry-ready?
A.At AAFT, we prepare our students to be industry-ready through a perfect mix of practical training, professional exposure, and mentorship. Every course is designed to match current industry standards. Students learn in real production environments, working in our 7 professional studios, post-production labs, and sound recording setups using industry-grade cameras, lighting, and editing software.
From the very first trimester, they handle real projects, like short films, news programs, ad shoots, and live events, just like professionals. Regular workshops and masterclasses by filmmakers, journalists, and media experts give students direct insights from the industry.
Internships with production houses, TV channels, and media companies are a key part of training, helping students apply their classroom learning to real-world challenges.
We also focus on personality development, communication, teamwork, and time management, the soft skills that matter most in professional life. By the time they graduate, AAFT students are confident, skilled, and ready to step straight into the industry.
Q. What qualities do your students have that other college students lack?
A. AAFT students stand out because they gain real industry experience while they are still studying. They don’t just learn theory; they actually create, produce, and perform like professionals. Working in our 7 studios, post-production labs, and shooting floors gives them strong practical skills and confidence that many students from other colleges lack.
They know how to handle cameras, lights, sound, editing software, and live productions independently. Regular workshops, film festivals, and interactions with industry experts make them more creative and adaptable.
Another great strength of AAFT is its large and active alumni base spread across leading media houses, production companies, and digital platforms. Many alumni regularly visit the campus or connect online to guide current students, sharing valuable insights about real industry trends and opportunities.
This combination of practical training, mentorship, and professional exposure makes AAFT students confident, skilled, and truly industry-ready.
Q. Do you think the curriculum of the courses taught in your institute fits the requirements of the industry?
A.Yes, the curriculum at AAFT is perfectly aligned with the current and future needs of the media and entertainment industry. It has been carefully designed by industry experts who understand real professional demands. Every subject is planned to develop both creative and technical skills that the industry looks for today.
All our faculty members are seasoned professionals with many years of industry experience. Some of them have also written books in their respective fields, which adds great depth and authenticity to the teaching process.
Students learn through practical, hands-on training by working on short films, ad shoots, news programs, and digital content using professional cameras, lights, and editing tools in professional studios and post-production labs.
Regular workshops, masterclasses, and expert interactions ensure that the curriculum stays relevant and updated. This blend of academic excellence and industry exposure makes AAFT graduates confident, skilled, and truly industry-ready.
Q. Is your college receptive to innovation, technology, science & entrepreneurship?
A.Yes, AAFT is highly receptive to innovation, technology, science, and entrepreneurship. The institute constantly upgrades its teaching methods and facilities to match the fast-changing media and entertainment industry. Our 7 professional studios, post-production labs, and digital classrooms are equipped with the latest technology in cameras, lights, sound, and editing systems.
Students are encouraged to experiment, think creatively, and come up with innovative ideas for films, digital content, and media projects. Courses include sessions on new media technologies, OTT platforms, and digital storytelling to help students stay ahead of industry trends.
AAFT also supports entrepreneurship by guiding students who wish to start their own production houses, YouTube channels, or creative ventures. Guest lectures by successful professionals and alumni inspire students to take bold and innovative steps in their careers.
