BIIB Pune selects candidates based on entrance exams such as UGC NET, UGC CSIR NET, GATE, etc. The institute also conducts an entrance test (SBUP-PET) for admission to the PhD programme. The qualifying marks for the entrance test is 50%. Selected candidates are further called for an interview/viva voce round for final selection.

Candidates who have passed a master's degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (50% aggregate for SC/ ST) are eligible to apply for BIIB Pune PhD course. 

Aspirants who are fellow members of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), and Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI), with five years of professional experience are also eligible.

BIIB Pune accepts CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, and MAH-CET scores for MBA admission. BIIB also conducts SBEST for aspirants who have not appeared for any of the accepted entrance exams. For PhD admission, the institute considers SBUP-PET/ UGC NET (JRF)/ UGC-CSIR NET (JRF)/ SET/ GATE/ SLET scores. Sri Balaji University, Pune also admits PhD students through an Entrance Test (SBUP - PET) conducted at the level of the University. The shortlisted candidates are further called for interview and other selection rounds.

Yes, BIIB Pune conducts an interview round for candidates shortlisted based on entrance exam score. Essay Writing is an integral part of the interview process. Applicants are required to appear for an essay writing exercise on a subject, which will be given on the spot in the selection centers. This will be for 30 marks and 50%  of the marks will be counted. This essay writing will be for half an hour. The topics will be general and anyone who follows the National Newspapers can easily appear for the same and score good marks.
