B.Tech. in Civil Engineering - Batch of 2029

Infrastructure is the main highlight of this college.
Placements: In this pass-out batch, from our department of civil engineering, out of 36 students, 22 were placed at their very first interviews. The remaining ones are expecting placements at upcoming interviews. The top roles offered in my course are, in the government sector, we can start from overseer, assistant engineer in LSGD, PWD, KSEB to the top Indian engineering service head based on our qualification exams. In the private sector, we can be construction managers and project planners. We can also start our own company and provide many more job opportunities. Be your own CEO!
Infrastructure: Our campus is a fully Wi-Fi campus. There are different Wi-Fi accesses for faculty members and students. Students have their own IDs and passwords to access Wi-Fi. Labs are equipped with all the equipment an engineering student needs. The civil lab has dumpy levels and a lot more measuring and leveling equipment. Our college has a vast library with department-wise stacked books for our studies and GATE and other exam preparations. Additionally, there is an internet spot in the library where computers are accessible for students anytime during college hours for extra research and studies. CCTV cameras are everywhere inside the class, library, bus, dining, and canteen.
Faculty: Teachers are very knowledgeable and hold good qualifications. Our HOD of the civil department is a B.Tech graduate from NIT and M.Tech from IIT. In our college, we maintain a high standard in education and other areas. All of our faculty members are well qualified. Most of them hold Doctorates in their own subjects of interest. Semester exams are conducted with standard questions from Kerala Technological University. A good and standard pass percentage rate keeps up our college's honors every day.
Other: I chose this course because from childhood I always planned houses I saw according to my thoughts. I always think of renovations and making my own touch in every home I visit. The best thing about my course is that we can work creatively in civil engineering. Beyond all other engineering streams, civil engineers can work with their own creative thinking and freedom.

Absolutely dissatisfied with college life and placements.
Placements: I think in my class there were 53 students, and most of them were placed even though they had a supply. The highest offered is 10,000/month the minimum is 3,000/month, and the average is 5,000. Most of the company names I heard for the first time. I think the only company I know is Federal Bank. There were no students who got internships. I think one student got a civil engineering post, but it’s not from college recruitment.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is not available for students actually. Labs are good, but I don't think all the infrastructure was available during my college time. And about classrooms, it’s okay for college students. And the library, I can’t say it was good because we don’t mostly get the books we want. And about the hostel, I was a day scholar, so I don’t know much about it. But from my friend, I heard it was not so good and the food was bad. There is no medical facility, no sports or games, and about the canteen, it was a flop. Nothing was there and many times students got biscuits already eaten by rats.
Faculty: I don’t know about all teachers’ qualifications and all. Some even were rank holders. Even though I don’t like that college, I have to say the teachers are good; they teach us perfectly. Yes, the course curriculum is relevant. Some teachers help us in the future. Exams are difficult, but with the help of teachers, the majority of students pass. I think the pass percentage is 80.
Other: I don’t have any say about my course because I don’t really like civil engineering. So, I can’t say the best thing about it. There are so many things to improve because our practical knowledge has to improve. As a civil engineer, we need to have practical knowledge instead of theoretical knowledge. We won’t get anywhere by only knowing theories. If I have to talk about events, our college didn’t conduct many events and fests; it was okay. Campus life is an utter flop. Yes, they support extracurricular activities, but not much. They only give importance to study.

I am not satisfied because of events, sports, extracurricular activities, and campus life.
Placements: Around 20% of students got placed in the civil engineering course. The highest salary package offered is around 5 LPA - 6 LPA. The average salary package offered is around 2 LPA - 3 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 1 LPA - 2 LPA. There are no top recruiting companies in our course. Only 20-30% of students got internships.
Infrastructure: Our college does not encourage students in sports activities and games. It only encourages in studying. The canteen does not include breakfast, lunch, and food items. Only drinks and snacks are available in the canteen. Sports and games are average.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is very good. Semester exams are not very difficult. The pass percentage in the course is 85%. The course curriculum is relevant and makes students industry-ready. Civil engineering is a good course.
Other: I am very interested in civil engineering, so I chose it. This course is not very difficult to study. We can connect the subjects with daily life like the construction and design of bridges, houses, airports, etc. We can do 3D design through many websites. There should be more real site experience, so it will be easy to understand. Events, fests, and the campus crowd are very bad. The campus surroundings are good. Scholarships are provided. Extracurricular activities are not encouraged.

Review of Carmel College of Engineering And Technology, Alappuzha.
Placements: The placement process in our college is in the beginning stages. The highest package is 13 Lacs per annum and the lowest package is 3.5 Lacs per annum. The top recruiting companies are TCS, Infosys, etc. Almost more than 50 percent of the students get placed each year.
Infrastructure: The college facilities are much better, as the students are able to study in a calm and peaceful environment without being distracted by any other means. The lab facilities and the Wi-Fi facilities are excellent. The canteen is the place where students find themselves more interested in different engaging activities.
Faculty: The teachers or the faculty members are very efficient and are very engaging in their respective works and the students are also satisfied with the college. The semesters in the college curriculum are difficult due to the widespread COVID disease, which resulted in a delay of about five months in starting the curriculum.

The campus life at the college is what it is to be lived.
Placements: Placements are highly offered here and it is one of the attractive features. Many companies like TCS recruit every year and hire many students from every department and compared to other departments, the Computer Science department has the highest percentage of placement.
Infrastructure: The college offers hostel accommodation for both boys and girls. It has a library that consists of a large number of books. There is an auditorium where various college activities are organised. Healthy and delicious meals are provided to the students and faculty members by the college canteen.
Faculty: The faculty provides good-quality teaching. They are very helpful and supportive and help us to complete the overall syllabus. They always encourage us to fulfil our dreams. They conduct exams before the university exams that help us to study well. They also provide proper study materials to prepare for the exams.
Other: There is very much room for improvement of our social skills, various clubs that are highly active in the college and conduct programs often.

Honest review about Carmel College.
Placements: Some students who got a CGPA above 9 are placed. Comparatively, placements in this college are very few, and if there is a placement, it is for low-paid jobs. Only less than 10 percent of students got good placements, while others will have to work for it. Most of the students had to go to paid internships to meet course requirements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is decent but not enough. The Wi-Fi is there but only for staff. In a classroom, there is an average of 60 students. Library facilities are decent as there are enough books for study purposes. The hostels are very strict as you have to enter before 6 PM, there are limitations on phone usage, and the hostel mess is not that good.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful and have adequate knowledge in their subjects. They maintain a good relationship with the students. But the HOD of the department is not approachable. Semester exams are quite hard as you have to work very hard to pass the exams.
Other: I chose this course because it was the nearest available with low fees and I got a scholarship.
