It depends on the course in which the student is interested. Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology, Ahmedabad offers BTech, MSc, MTech, and Diploma courses. Admission to the BTech and MTech courses at the college is done based on the scores obtained in the JEE Main and the GATE exams, respectively. Applications for the GATE exam generally opens in the month of November and are currently open. Applications for the JEE Main exam generally opens in the months of Novemeber and February and are currently closed. Admission to the MSc is done based on the scores obtained in the Gujarat University exam. Applications for the exam generally open in the month of March and are currently closed. The college also has some seats reserved for direct admission under managemnet quota. DIrect admissions are currently open.

Candidates are also required to have a minimum of 45% marks in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics for general and require 40% for reserved categories.For Plastics Engineering, which has 60 seats, 50% of the total seats are filled by ACPC, that is by GUJCET/JEE Main, and remaining 50% by CIPET-JEE.
